PITCHER OF THE YEAR

Roy Halladay

Won 20-plus games for the second time in his career, posting a 20-11 record with a 2.78 ERA in 33 starts in 2008. Led the AL with nine complete games and 246 innings pitched. Has won the award six times in the last seven seasons.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Vernon Wells

Received the Neil MacCarl award, named after the long-time Star baseball writer. The outfielder led the club with 20 home runs and 78 RBIs in only 108 games. Has now been honoured in three of the last four seasons.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

Jesse Carlson

Posted a 7-2 record with a 2.25 ERA in a club-high 69 games. Made his major league debut in style by retiring the first nine batters he faced, including striking out the side after entering the game with the bases loaded in the 11th inning vs. Texas.

MOST IMPROVED

Adam Lind

Outfielder posted a .282 average with nine home runs and 40 RBIs. He registered a career-high 10-game hit streak from July 22 to Aug. 1, and had a career-high four hits in one game on July 22 against the Baltimore Orioles.

JOHN CERUTTI AWARD

Paul Godfrey

Outgoing president and CEO receives award given annually to the person associated with the day-to-day workings of Blue Jays baseball who displays goodwill, co-operation and character, as exemplified by the late John Cerutti.
